Paving the Main Road in Binnish
Rehabilitation and asphalt paving of 36,000 m² of the main artery in Binnish City across Phase 1, encompassing asphalt milling, grading, mechanical compaction, and debris clearing in preparation for new hot-mix asphalt laying.
Initiative Context & "Binnish For Your Sake" Campaign
As part of the "Binnish For Your Sake" Campaign and in close cooperation and coordination with the "Idlib Governorate", Orient for Human Relief and Developmentlaunched a comprehensive project to rehabilitate and asphalt-pave the main thoroughfare in Binnish City. This strategic artery links the city with surrounding towns and serves as a vital corridor for passenger transit and economic activity along the Aleppo–Idlib axis.
The project addresses severe structural degradation and cracking accumulated over years of stress and neglect, which impeded vehicular flow, escalated transportation costs, and disrupted everyday commercial connectivity across this central district.
Technical Assessment & Priority Coordination
Field operations commenced with an extensive engineering survey conducted in close coordination with the Binnish Local Council. The joint assessment mapped out the most severely degraded segments, establishing optimized work zones and safe detour corridors to ensure continuous transit for citizens throughout execution.
Total Phase 1 Coverage
Phase 1 encompasses the structural rehabilitation and paving of 36,000 m² along Binnish's primary traffic artery.
Local Council Partnership
Full field coordination with the local council to organize alternative traffic detours and prioritize high-density community access points.
Preparatory Works & Phased Execution Plan
The project is being delivered through a multi-stage engineering plan engineered to achieve long-term pavement durability and stability:
- Milling Old Asphalt Layers:Deploying specialized milling machinery to strip away deteriorated and uneven asphalt layers down to the engineered foundation grade.
- Debris Removal & Thorough Site Clearing:Clearing hundreds of tons of accumulated rubble, debris, and loose aggregate across the entire roadway corridor.
- Subgrade Leveling & Heavy Mechanical Compaction:Executing precision grade leveling and high-density mechanical roller compaction to reinforce the structural foundation against heavy truck traffic.
- Preparation for New Asphalt Paving:Finalizing preparations to spread aggregate base courses, apply prime coats, and lay new hot-mix asphalt layers in the subsequent phase.
- 50% Phase 1 Progress & Accelerated Operations:Site preparation and milling have reached 50% completion, with field crews working steadily toward asphalt laying and full road reopening.
Sustainable Economic & Community Impact
Rehabilitating Binnish Main Road marks a major milestone for local early recovery, restoring smooth access to healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and central markets while fulfilling the core goals of the "Binnish For Your Sake" campaign.
"Rehabilitating a main road means restoring a vital lifeline that connects communities, revives markets, and accelerates recovery."
